Setup

On the air in three steps.

Most radios take a few minutes. Model-specific details are below.

  1. Connect your radio

Join it to your network, or plug it into your Mac with USB.

  2. Add it to Mona Radio

Choose your radio, enter its connection details, and run Check.

  3. Start listening and controlling

Tune, watch the band and hear it — on every screen you use.

IC-705 over Wi-Fi

  1. On the radio, open MENU › SET › WLAN Set, turn WLAN on, and join the same network as your Apple device.
  2. In WLAN Set › Remote Settings, turn Network Control on and set a Network User name and password. For the IC-705, each must be exactly 16 letters or digits.
  3. In WLAN Set › Connection Settings, note the radio’s IP address.
  4. In Mona Radio, add the radio with that address and its Network User credentials, then select Check.

A stable network without client isolation gives the best results.

Other network radios

IC-9700, IC-7610, IC-7760 and IC-R8600 connect over your local network.

  1. Turn on the radio’s network remote control and set its network user name and password. Your radio’s manual names the exact menu.
  2. Note the radio’s IP address.
  3. In Mona Radio, add the radio, enter its address and credentials, and select Check.

USB radios on Mac

The IC-7300, FT-710 and FT-891 — and the IC-705 — can connect to your Mac with a USB cable.

  1. Connect the radio to your Mac and turn it on.
  2. In Mona Radio, add the radio and choose its USB connection.
  3. For the FT-891, also choose the USB audio interface that carries the radio’s receive audio.

Mona Relay Preview

Share the radio connected to your Mac with your iPhone, iPad and other Macs on the same network.

  1. On the Mac connected to your radio, open Mona Radio Settings › Mona Relay and turn sharing on. It is off until you do.
  2. On your other device, choose Add Radio › Mona Relay and pick your Mac.
  3. On the Mac, check that the six-digit verification code matches on both screens, then approve the device.

Devices on Mona Relay receive the radio’s state, spectrum, waterfall and audio. Control stays with the Mac. You can revoke a device at any time.

Mona Relay is in Preview. Availability and features may change as validation continues.

Local Network access

Mona Radio asks for Local Network access so it can reach your radio and your Mac. If you declined, turn it back on in Settings › Privacy & Security › Local Network on iPhone and iPad, or System Settings › Privacy & Security › Local Network on Mac.
